Mumbai, October 2, 2024 – In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 16, legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan shared a heartwarming personal story that left the audience intrigued. While engaging with contestant Kriti, who narrated her inter-caste marriage experience, Big B revealed his own mixed heritage, stating that he considers himself “half-Sardar.”
Bachchan explained that his mother, Teji Bachchan, hailed from a Sikh family, and his aunts fondly referred to him as “Amitabh Singh.” He added, “I find it a little awkward to call it inter-caste. My father was from Uttar Pradesh, and my mother was from a Sikh family. So, I believe I am half-Sardar.” He humorously recalled how his maternal aunts in Punjab would say, “Kinna sona putar hai, sadda Amitabh Singh (What a beautiful son, our Amitabh Singh).”
Kriti Fulfills Her Father’s Dream
During the episode, Kriti, who hails from Sukrit, Uttar Pradesh, shared a touching story about her father’s desire to participate in Kaun Banega Crorepati. Although he couldn’t make it to the show, even after losing his memory, he would still answer KBC questions from home. Sitting in the hot seat, Kriti fulfilled her father’s long-held dream and expressed her wish for him to meet Amitabh Bachchan in person.
Big B’s Math Struggles and Light-Hearted Moments
The episode also had its share of light-hearted moments. When Kriti effortlessly answered a math question, Bachchan praised her skills. However, Kriti confessed that she wasn’t strong in math during school and would barely pass with 40 marks. In response, Big B revealed that he too had struggled with math, scoring only 42 marks during his school days, eliciting laughter from the audience.
Another amusing moment occurred when Kriti asked Amitabh if he gifts jewellery to his wife, Jaya Bachchan. Smiling, Bachchan replied, “You’ve asked me quite a personal question, but yes, I do gift her jewellery. Hope no one from the Income Tax department is watching this!”
