Uber marked World Art Day by bringing the joy of painting to its popular product in India, the Uber Auto. As a symbol of resilience and aspiration across the country, autorickshaws were painted with the help of the Aravani Art Project at the Carter Road amphitheatre. The project, a transgender-led art collective, was invited to paint three whitewashed Uber Autos in Mumbai, with inspirational stories in line with the Resilient Aspirers campaign launched by Uber in March 2023. The initiative aimed to inspire and support the resilience of people in India, with auto-rickshaws being a symbol of resilience for many drivers who use the service to earn their livelihoods. The Aravani Art Project provided a platform for transgender people to express themselves through art, and the Uber partnership allowed the project to reach a wider audience with their message. The event was conceptualised by Uber’s digital agency, Dentsu Creative, and was celebrated with much enthusiasm by Ameya Velankar, the Head of Marketing for Uber India and South Asia. The initiative demonstrated how art can inspire and create positive change in society.
