GOAT Box Office Collection Day 20: Thalapathy Vijay’s Film Holds Steady After Initial Dip

Thalapathy Vijay’s action-packed sci-fi thriller Greatest of All Time (GOAT), directed by Venkat Prabhu, continues to draw audiences despite experiencing significant drops in its box office earnings. On its 20th day, the film earned ₹1.15 crore, maintaining steady collections after a sharp 77% decline in ticket sales earlier.

Box Office Performance

After 19 days in theaters, GOAT has amassed a net collection of ₹245.65 crore in India. Released on September 5, 2024, the film made an impressive start, crossing ₹100 crore within its first three days. However, maintaining momentum beyond the initial week proved challenging. With the current figures, reaching the ₹300 crore mark domestically seems unlikely in the immediate future. The Tamil occupancy rate on day 20 stood at 16.41%, while the Hindi version recorded a lower 7.20% occupancy.

Global Earnings and Budget

Globally, GOAT has grossed approximately ₹446 crore, nearing its reported budget of ₹400 crore, making it one of the most expensive Tamil films ever produced. A significant portion of this budget is attributed to Thalapathy Vijay’s reported ₹200 crore remuneration for the film.

The movie leads the 2024 box office rankings for Kollywood films, with Raayan, Aranmanai 4, and Maharaja trailing behind in both global and domestic collections.

A Stellar Cast and Plotline

GOAT features a star-studded cast including Sneha, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Jayaram, and Mohan. Vijay takes on a double role, portraying Gandhi, a member of an anti-terrorism squad, adding depth to the film’s high-octane plot. The movie’s sci-fi elements, combined with intense action sequences, have captivated audiences, and the soundtrack by Yuvan Shankar Raja adds to its appeal.

What’s Next for Vijay?

Vijay’s foray into politics has also garnered attention. Following the release of GOAT, he launched his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam, marking a new chapter in his career. Fans are eagerly awaiting his final film, a collaboration with director H Vinoth, before he transitions into full-time politics.

As GOAT continues its theatrical run, fans and critics alike will be watching closely to see how the film fares in the coming days, especially with the festive season around the corner.
